Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to express about his profound loss.

"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".

"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade

In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.

This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
